17th Children drawing contest This is my México the theme is "Wings of Mexico"

¡Atrévete a ponerle alas a tu fantasía!

A Cinco de Mayo bash featuring Locarno band on May 5th 2013 5pm - 8 pm. at Vancouver Fan Club.

Locarno is the Latin project of Paperboys frontman Tom Landa. The music, like him, is part Mexican but with strong doses of Cuban Son, Folk Music, Pop and Funk. There are threads of Son Jarocho and Salsa but the songs are more edgy and contemporary than that.   (Source: excerpt from Bio of Locarno FB Page)

Sergio Abreu Former Brazil Ambassador to Mexico receives the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle - Mexican Consulate in Vancouver
Sérgio Augusto de Abreu e Lima Florêncio Sobrinho, Consul General of Brazil in Vancouver and former Brazil Ambassador to Mexico was decorated with the sash of the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle on November 15th. This was in recognition of his valuable work promoting and reinforcing the relationship of friendship, and cooperation between the United Mexican States and the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The Order of the Aztec Eagle (Orden Mexicana del Águila Azteca) is the highest decoration awarded to foreigners in Mexico.
The ceremony took place at the Mexican Consulate in Vancouver where Ángel Villalobos Consul of México in Vancouver presented the decoration of the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, Sash grade to his excellency Sérgio Augusto de Abreu e Lima Florêncio Sobrinho, who served as Ambassador of Brazil to Mexico (2008-2011).
Mr. Abreu e Lima work as Ambassador of Brazil to Mexico was characterized for his professional and personal commitment that allowed him several initiatives in favor of the bilateral relationship between the two biggest economies in Latin America. His diplomatic work helped the start of negotiations for a Strategic Economic Integration Agreement; and also the celebration of several reunions like the Mexican State visit to Brasilia in August 2009, the presidential and ministerial meetings in Cancún, Quintana Roo during the "Cumbre de la Unidad de América Latina" in 2010.
In his speech on the occasion of the ceremony, Mr. Abreu e Lima expressed "Closer ties between Brazil and Mexico may certainly bring mutual contributions in many areas.
The first fertile domain is culture. Mexico has fascinated the world with the wealth of its pre-hispanic cultural patrimony, the mysteries of the Mayan and Aztec art, science and mythology, the legacy of their traditional knowledge and wisdom. The intellectual splendor of thinkers like Octavio Paz and Carlos Fuentes, the social eloquence and plastic beauty of major muralists and painters such as Diego Rivera and Orozco...."
