Mexican journalist, critic and political activist Carlos Monsiváis  was born on May 4, 1938 and died on June 19th. 2010. He was known as Mexico's finest chronicler and It has been said that to understand life in Mexico you have to read Carlos Monsivais´ work.

Some of his works can be found in the Vancouver Public Library either in English or Spanish:

We visited the Chali-Rosso Art Gallery located on the exclusive Gallery Row in Vancouver, Canada that is presenting the great exhibition "Definitely Dalí" a collection of sculptures by surrealist artist Salvador Dalí . The gallery also houses the largest private gallery collection of works by European Modern Masters including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró and Henry Mtisse, Salvador Dalí, and we could also see works by Rembrandt.

Octavio Paz a Mexican writer, poet and diplomat awarded with the prestigious Nobel prize in Literature and the Miguel de Cervantes prize, the most important award in Spanish language was born in March 31, 1914, 100 years ago. Year 2014 has been declared in Mexico "Año de Octavio Paz". Different events in Mexico and internationally have been organized to celebrate his centennial.
