Amazing VanMusic Open Mic One Year Celebration! at Displace Hashery in Kitsilano

VanMusic is celebrating one year of their Open Mic at Displace Hashery Beach Bar in Kitsilano. We are very lucky to have this kind of events in Kitsilano, the celebration included incredible talented musicians and bands, and it was broadcasting trough the radio 101.9 FM www.citr.ca.
Some of the performers were: Shalini, Goske, Michael Fraser, Gary Chalk, Robb Hill, MG Graveyard, Devil in the Woodshack, Daniel Doerksen and Mat Dennison.

The Little Green Dress Project at The Vandusen Botanical Garden

The Little Green Dress Projekt at The Vandusen Botanical Garden - Vancouver
An extraordinary Fall/Winter Mother Nature fashion show: The Little Green Dress Projekt. Installed at the Vandusen Botanical Garden. it comprises beautiful and elegant handmade botanical dresses made of flowers, leaves, and other organic materials, each draped over a wooden stand. All created by artist Nicole Dextras. This outdoor installation is part of the Earth Art Exhibition from July to September. The dresses will be left outside to wilt and decompose during the exhibition.

Visions of Mexican Art in Vancouver an exhibit including Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Graciela Iturbide and Pedro Coronel

The Chinese Cultural Centre of Vancouver is hosting the "Vision of Mexican Art" exhibit. The collection include 54 pieces of some of the most recognized Mexican artists like Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Pedro Coronel, Graciela Iturbide and José Luis Cuevas just to mention some of them.

The Payment in Kind program created in Mexico and also a unique idea in Latin America is a way of paying taxes to the government by artists. It started back in 1957 and has allowed to create an extraordinary collection of over 4,000 pieces. The "Vision of Mexican Art" pieces are part of this collection and also the Heritage Archive.

Other work part of the exhibition includes the beautiful sculpture in bronze "Acrobat on Split on Top of Bull"  by Jorge Marin.

Mexican Sculptor Sebastian work is also part of the exhibit in Vancouver with "Couple" a bronze sculpture.

Opening of Visions of Mexican Art 
From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico: 
Visions of Mexican Art is exhibited as part of the activities of the Mexcian Pavillion of the Annual Conference of the International Association of Educators (NAFSA). 

The exhibition is kindly being hosted by the Chinese Cultural Cnetre in the On-Tak Cheung Exhibition Hall from May 10th to May 31st 2011. Tuesday to Sunday daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Free admission donations are welcomed.
