Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations also include artistic and cultural events that try to preserve traditions and costumes. In Vancouver we also have some of the traditional Mexican celebrations of the dead organized by the Mexican Communities and artists of Vancouver. We also have not typical Mexican celebrations, but with an strong influence with its elements and characteristics as in "All Souls" celebration at the Mountain View Cemetery; this one includes in its events a very popular Mexican Sugar Skulls workshop. Other event where there are always Mexican sugar skulls is the popular Parade of Lost Souls.

TBD Traditional Day of the Dead Altar at Holy Rosary Cathedral and "Fieles Difuntos" Celebration
Every year a beautiful traditional Day of the Dead Altar is set up at The Holy Rosary Cathedral on Nov. 2nd.
I am waiting for details about if the altar will be set up this year and if there is a celebration.
When: Nov. 2nd. Mass at 6:30 pm in Spanish (to be confirmed)

El sábado 1ero de Noviembre, el grupo Méxicanos Viviendo en Vancouver y Latinos in Action Society, los invitan cordialmente a participar en una celebración tradicional de día de muertos en la ciudad de Vancouver. El evento tiene la función de preservar esta tradición cultural y cultivarla en las nuevas generaciones. Está abierta a todo el público. Esperamos que todos ustedes conozcan nuevas amistades en el evento para seguir fortaleciendo nuestra identidad.
AGENDA DEL EVENTO
2-5pm - Creación de altares, decoración con papel picado del salón, ambientación.
5-7pm- Recibimiento de invitados. Café, Chocolate y licor estarán a la venta en la cafetería. Música alusiva y tradicional de fondo.
7-8:30 Reflexión sobre las ánimas, baile folklórico "las brujas", lectura de calaveras, música en vivo.
8:30- 10:30pm Convivio social con pan de muertos

Ven a celebrar a los fieles difuntos en el Dia de los Muertos, que se llevara a cabo en la iglesia 'Our Lady of Sorrows". en el 555 Slocan Street; de 5 a 8 pm, el sabado primero de Noviembre.
Programa:
- Misa en Ingles de 5 a 6 pm
- Festividad con participacion de artistas locales:
- CUENTOS. Adela Patoni, hara un programa especial para los Peques, con lectura de cuentos infantiles y un taller creativo.
- TEATRO: Salome Nieto, presentara un segmento de la obra "Camino al Tepeyac"
- DANZAS: Mexico Vivo, compartira con los asistentes, bailes del folklor mexicano
- POESIA: Lectura de Calaveritas
- CANTO: Canciones populares Mexicanas con Angel Medina, solista
La iglesia y los voluntarios de la OLOS, compartiran con los presentes y los fieles difuntos, las ofrendas de pan de dulce y chocolate

Dedicado especialmente a familias con ninos, ademas del Altar de Muertos, exposicion pictorica de Ari De La Mora y Artesanias Mexicanas, contaremos con la presencia de Michelle Uvence (Early Childhood Educator), ella forma parte de ‘ROOTS’ una organización no lucrativa , en la cual por medio de talleres los niños fabrican sus propios títeres, aprenden acerca de los valores y las tradiciones de las culturas del mundo . Michelle con su guitarra y titeres explicara a los ninos el significado del Altar de Muertos y tendran la oportunidad de crear calaveritas de azucar ademas de bailar y cantar.
