Vancouver International Tequila Expo

"El Tesoro de mi Tierra" Tequila - Vancouver International Tequila Expo
Tequila the most known of the distilled spirits of Mexico is a type of mezcal produced from a plant known as "Agave Azul" Blue Agave. The Agave landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006.
The UNESCO documents mention in its brief description "Stretching between the foothills of the Tequila Volcano and the deep Rio Grande river valley are the expansive landscapes of blue agave, which since the 16th century have been used to produce tequila spirit. Within the landscape are working distilleries reflecting the growth in international consumption of tequila in the 19th century. The agave plant has been used since pre-historic times to produce fermented drinks and for making cloth; the agave culture is now seen as part of national identity. "
Recently Canada has experienced an increase in the consumption of Tequila with more brands and better quality of this spirit.
The Vancouver International Tequila Expo which took place yesterday at the Vancouver Convention Centre for the first time displayed an excellent selection of Tequila brands. The main event was open to the general public, there were also a trade tasting, seminars and tasting around town in different restaurants of Vancouver.
